Long， long ago， thr was an honst and kind-hartd fllow namd Niu Lang (Cowhand)。 His parnts did whn h was a child. Latr h was drivn out of his hom by his sistr-in-law. So h livd by himslf hrding cattl and farming. On day， a fairy from havn Zhi Nu (Wavr Maid) fll in lov with him and cam down scrtly to arth and marrid him. Th cowhand farmd in th fild and th Wavr Maid wov at hom. Thy livd a happy lif and gav birth to a boy and a girl. Unfortunatly， th God of Havn soon found out th fact and ordrd th Qun Mothr of th Wstrn Havns to bring th Wavr Maid back. With th hlp of clstial cattl， th Cowhand flw to havn with his son and daughtr. At th tim whn h was about to catch up with his wif， th Qun Mothr took off on of hr gold hairpins and mad a strok. On billowy rivr appard in front of th Cowhand. Th Cowhand and Wavr Maid wr sparatd on th two banks forvr and could only fl thir tars. Thir loyalty to lov touchd magpis， so tns of thousands of magpis cam to build a bridg for th Cowhand and Wavr Maid to mt ach othr.
